Betty L. Klein, mother-in-law to Molloy College President Dr. Drew Bogner, died on Jan. 4 from a stroke. She was 92.

Klein grew up in Kansas, working on her parents’ farm. An only child, she used to help her parents plow the fields and take care of the livestock. When she went to school, she would ride a horse there.

“She did lots of projects,” said her daughter, Karen Bogner. “She could build cabinets, sew her own clothes. She was a very devoted mother and wife.”

Klein loved to sew and knit. She and her husband, Joseph, raised their children on their own farm in Kansas. During the day, Klein worked as a bookkeeper, and then would come home and do work on the 160-acre family farm.

“She was a ‘doer.’ A person of action,” Dr. Drew Bogner said. “There wasn’t any project she couldn’t do.”

Klein was predeceased by her husband Joseph and her daughter Cheryl. She is survived by her children Karen (Drew) Bogner, Chuck (Annette). Adored grandmother of Ryan Bogner, Lindsay Kelly and Eric Klein. Great grandmother of Jason.

Reposing will be at Macken Mortuary at 52 Clinton Ave. in Rockville Centre on Jan. 9 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.. Funeral Mass will be at St. Martha’s Roman Catholic Church in Uniondale on Jan. 10 at 10:30 a.m. A private interment will follow.
