The New York State English Council has named Dr. Beth Zirogiannis, Director of English Language Arts K-12, and an Educator of Excellence. Zirogiannis was chosen for having implemented best practices in English Language Arts instruction, challenging students to become skillful readers and writers and showing a dedication to professional development. In addition, Jennifer Frasca, an English Language Arts teacher at Oceanside High School, and Laura Trongard, a Social Studies teacher, were named Collaborators of Excellence for their work in weaving English and Social Studies instruction into a cohesive whole through the ninth grade Integrated Program.
They will each be honored at an NYSEC conference in October.
