Confronted with a crisis situation the likes our generation has never seen, the Oceanside Knights of Columbus jumped into action to help first responders battle the obstacles associated with the coronavirus pandemic.

Led by Grand Knight Darab Kevin Lawyer and his officers, the Knights embarked on a quest to donate hot meals to first responders at local hospitals and the Fourth Precinct of the Nassau County Police Department.

During the crisis, Lawyer, Deputy Grand Knight Steve Bermudez, Chancellor Paul Kahl and Outside Guard Christopher Hegmann picked up and delivered 25 meals to the Fourth Precinct. The meals were prepared by Knights of Columbus Executive Chef Steve Pasetti and were well received.

Officers Joe Sgroi and Jared Baretti helped coordinate the food drop. The Knights also donated 50 hot meals for doctors and nurses at Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre. The meals were distributed by dietician Pat Finnerty.
