Oceanside teacher Jason Manning received the Empire State Excellence in Teaching Award. Marianella Feliz, a representative for Governor Andrew Cuomo who attended a June 24th faculty meeting at Oceanside High School, gave the award. She told Manning that he is one of only two teachers in Nassau County to receive this honor.
Manning said that he feels that he shares the honor with others. “I’m blessed,” he said. “I’m in a great spot where administrators say ‘yes’, they help me, I work with great people.”
Manning was presented with a plaque highlighting his honor and a check for $5,000.
