Computer Class: Internet and E-mail
This class covers e-mail applications using group mailings, attachments, and security as well as Internet surfing and shopping. Pre-registration is required. Classes will be held from 10-11 a.m. on April 13, 20 and 27. The fee is $30.


Computer Class: Computer Darkroom
Experienced computer users will learn how to download, retouch, and manipulate digital photographs using common applications like Microsoft Word. This class will also provide and introduction to Google’s Picassa for more complex photo editing. We suggest that you bring a digital camera and USB connecting cable to class. Pre-registration is required. Classes will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. on April 13, 20 and 27. The fee is $30.


Book Discussion: “Theodore Roosevelt’s Darkest Journey: The River of Doubt” by Candice Millard
This year’s “Long Island Reads” book selection recounts Roosevelt’s daring voyage down an unexplored tributary of the Amazon River. The book discussion will be led by Barbara Krupit at 2 p.m. on April 13.


Wake Up your Garden with the Oceanside Garden Club
Wake up and smell the flowers with special guest speaker Jenny Ulsheimer, director of horticulture at Clark Botanical Gardens, and delight in the first signs of spring. The club will meet at 7 p.m. on April 13.


Mark Twain: Telling Tales
David Houston stars as Mark Twain in a performance that captures the author’s sparkling wit and humor. Tickets, which are limited to two per person, will be available beginning April 18 to Oceanside School District residents and April 21 to non-residents, if available. The event will take place at 2 p.m. on April 28.


A Little Prose & Poetry
For National Poetry month in April, inspirational instructor Barbara Novak will demonstrate how the “focused poetry” techniques of imagery, figurative language and compression enhance various writing styles. Please bring writing supplies. The event begins at 7 p.m. on April 21.
