Oceanside’s Quarterback Jay Fielder to be inducted into the Nassau County Hall of Fame

Oceanside’s Quarterback Jay Fiedler will be joined by Manhasset High School football legend Jim Brown, and a very impressive list of former high school athletes at the first annual Nassau County High School Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2015 Induction Ceremony on Sept. 30.

Criteria for induction include being a former Nassau County high school athlete, coach, administrator or other related contributor, whose achievement was extraordinary and merited countywide recognition.

Fiedler played with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1994-95, the Minnesota Vikings in 1998, the Jacksonville Jaguars in 1999 and the Miami Dolphins from 2000-04. Then he signed with the New York Jets in March of 2005. It was during a game that September, in the third week of the season, Fiedler suffered a serious shoulder injury. The Jets released him in 2006, when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed him, but the shoulder injury continued to plague him and ended his pro football career.

Fiedler now coaches and trains up and coming pros at two camps he owns with his brother, The Sports Academy at Brookwood Camps and the Prime Time Sports Camps.

Also being inducted a who’s who of Nassau County athletes Jean Bartholomew, Carl Braun, Joan Case, Diane Chapman, Marie Corrado, Tom Flatley, Rosalia Gioia, Lorraine “Chickie” Hoffmann, Rebecca King, Ethel T. Kloberg, Buddy Krumenacker, Dr. Mira Martincich, Marcus Martone, Jason Morgan, Bernie O’Brien, Morlon Greenwood, Ted Petersen, Donald Ryan, Judith Salerno, Fred Smith, Dr. Nathalie “Muffy” Smith, Don Snyder, Wally Szczerbiak, Dr. James Tolle, Howard Vogts, and John “Jake” White.
