Parents want justice for a broken promise

Posted

To the Editor:

As a parent of a fourth-grader, I am very disappointed in the Malverne school district. I am not the only parent who feels this way.

We were promised all year long that our children were supposed to stay in the Davison Avenue School. The superintendent said at several of the Board of Education meetings that they are going to stay. Last year, before the bond was passed, we were promised this also. Now, as of the May 10 board meeting, they voted that our children will go to the middle school.

They were not even going to vote on this issue until a parent member on the board said something. I consider this very unfair to our children. With only five weeks left until graduation, they are going to miss out on some of the activities that children had for their graduation.

We should have been told in a more timely fashion. We need justice for what they put us through.
