Dorothy Drive neighbors invited friends and family to join them at their third annual summer block party last Saturday.

The daylong event was threatened by wind and rain, but festivities continued even after the drops started falling.

The family-friendly event was fun for all ages. Youngster enjoyed pony rides, a petting zoo, and musical chairs as their parents barbecued, and nearly everyone participated in the tug o’ war competition.

“I believe that when you know your neighbors, it creates a safe and fun block for everyone, especially these days with hectic schedules, technology and when both parents work,” said Sean Tedesco, a Dorothy Drive dweller.

Tedesco said the 25-foot slide was canceled due to excessive wind, but the kids still danced to DJ jams in the rain.

Touting the “best block party in town,” Tedesco said all blocks should starts the tradition.
