Pedestrian hit while crossing Lido Boulevard

Police say victim in critical condition

Police said a 59-year-old woman was struck by a car while crossing Lido Boulevard on Wednesday.

According to Nassau County police, the accident occurred at 11 a.m. According to detectives, an 85-year-old woman was driving westbound on Lido Blvd., when she struck the pedestrian as she crossed from north to south on Regent Drive.

A Nassau County Police helicopter transported the woman to a nearby hospital for treatment. She is said to have sustained head trauma, and is listed in critical condition.

Detectives said that no criminal charges have been brought against the driver at this time. The vehicle she was driving, a 2004 Pontiac, passed a safety inspection on site.
