Picnic in the Park showcases best of Baldwin

Baldwin residents and visitors found stimulation for all their senses last Saturday as the Chamber of Commerce put on quite a show. Edible treats donated by local merchants delighted attendees’ taste buds, while face painting, games, pony rides, raffles and music rounded out the program. A fireworks show — and the customary oohs and ahhhs — began around 9:20 providing an explosive conclusion to the event.

This year’s picnic in the park was the 16th annual event and was funded largely by donations from local businesses and residents. Douglas Diana of the Chamber’s Board of Directors told the Herald that planning for the event is now nearly a year-long process, and Ralph Rose, chamber co-president, said that the community’s involvement with the picnic is growing year by year.
