Police: Body found by Long Beach bridge

Nassau County police say the body of an unidentified female was discovered this morning in Reynolds Channel in Long Beach.

Nassau County and Long Beach police have been near the Long Beach bridge since around 6:30 a.m. with Nassau County Homicide Squad detectives and cordoned off a crime scene along the water on the west side of the bridge.

“It’s still under investigation,” Lt. Eric Cregeen, a spokesman for the LBPD, said. “We got a call at about 6:45 a.m. this morning for a body floating in the channel.”

Cregeen said that there is no word yet on the identity of the body or if foul play was involved.
