A Salisbury couple was arrested on Jan. 16 after agreeing to sell 100 bags of heroin to what ended up being an undercover officer in Lynbrook, police said on Sunday.

According to detectives, Carlos Deleon, 22, and his wife, Marissa Deleon, 20, arrived to the agreed-upon Lynbrook intersection of Carter Court and Atlantic Avenue at about 11:50 p.m. in a gold colored 2001 Hyundai Elantra with their 17-month-old daughter sleeping in the rear of the car.

Subsequent to arrest, police said, undercover officers found more than 1000 glassine bags of heroin that were marked "Gotham City," and were hidden in a diaper bag next to the child.

The Deleons were apprehended, and the child was released to the custody of a grandmother, police said, and there were no injuries.

Police charged the defendants with Criminal Sale and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance Third Degree, police said.

Carlos and Marissa Deleon were arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Monday, according to court records. A judge set bail for Carlos Deleon at $50,000 and for Marissa Deleon at $35,000, court records showed. Both were to appear in court again on Jan. 21.
