Nassau County police are investigating a burglary at Long Beach High School that occurred early Tuesday morning.

According to Fourth Precinct detectives, the incident took place at 4:40 a.m., when police received a 911 call to report a man searching through several offices inside the school, located at 322 W. Lagoon Drive in Lido Beach.

Upon arrival, the custodial staff told police that a tall black male, approximately 20-years-old, and wearing black pants and carrying a black backpack, fled the building on foot in an unknown direction. Police said that the suspect entered the building through the rear gymnasium, and that no proceeds were taken.

Parents were informed about the incident, and in a message posted on the district’s website, Principal Gaurav Passi said that there was a police presence at the school on Tuesday as the investigation continued.

“The police are investigating,” Dr. Passi wrote. “As a result you will notice a police presence at the high school. I will keep you informed as details develop.”

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crime to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
