After a nearly five-day search, police have arrested a man in connection with last week's robbery at Capital One Bank in East Meadow.

According to police, Barry Costa, 54, of Uniondale, was arrested without incident on Thursday at the Courtesy Hotel in West Hempstead at 4:40 p.m. He was charged with third-degree Robbery. Police said Costa was admitted to a local hospital for an unrelated medical condition and will be arraigned at a later date.

Crime Stoppers and the Nassau County Police Department sought the public’s help in identifying the man in the photos, who robbed Capital One Bank, located at 369 Merrick Avenue, on Nov. 12 at about 5 p.m.

The man gave a teller a plastic grocery bag along with a note and demanded money, police said. Police described him as a black male, between 30 and 40 years old, about six-foot-one, thin with dark hair. He was wearing a gray jacket, a black-hooded sweatshirt, jeans, black high-top boots and dark sunglasses, police said.

The thief, did not display a weapon, ran off with an undetermined amount of cash and fled through the south entrance of the bank in an unknown direction, police said.
