State Police arrested Mustafa Hymiah, 25, of West Babylon, on Aug. 29 and charged him with drunk driving.
at 4:49 a.m., two state troopers stopped a black Chevrolet for speeding (83 mph in a 55 mph zone), failing to signal and following too closely on the eastbound side of the Southern State Parkway near the Meadowbrook Parkway in Merrick.
While interviewing Hymiah, one trooper detected a strong odor of alcohol, as well as observing the driver's bloodshot and watery eyes.
According to police, Hymiah failed sobriety tests and had a blood alcohol level of .13. He was charged with DWI and several traffic violations.
Hymiah is scheduled back in court on Sep. 13.
