The Progressive School of Long Island, a private school in North Merrick, celebrated its 25th anniversary with a dinner celebration at the Coral House in Baldwin on April 21.
Roughly 400 students, staff and school supporters were treated to musical performances, theatrical presentations and a showcase of student artwork. Nassau County Legislator Dave Denenberg, a Democrat from Merrick, even played himself in a play recounting the history of the school.
The Progressive School runs from kindergarten to eighth grade and focuses its curriculum around neo-humanism, which teaches universal love for all living things, from people to plants.
