Raising funds to feed the needy

Now in its 26th year, Rock and Wrap it Up! (RWU) is an award-winning anti-poverty organization that researches, discovers and nurtures potential sources willing to share food with those in need. Donors include touring bands, educational institutions, the hospitality industry, professional sports teams, hospitals and TV/film shoots, all who use food and often have left over’s that can be used to feel the needy and the poor.

On May 2 RWU held an award dinner honoring Beth and Lenny Fliegel with the 2016 Lena and Joseph Mandelbaum Humanitarian Award. Over 100 people looked on as RWU founder Syd Mandelbaum thanked those assembled for their generosity. RWU raised over $25 thousand that night.

Through RWU, more than one billion meals have been recovered since 1991. Recognized by the White House with a Point of Light Award and recipients of numerous Environmental Protection Agency distinctions, RWU strives to re-earn these honors every day.
