'Recycle, Reuse, and Roller Skate!'

Oceanside's Department of Community Activities, in concert with the Oceanside Kiwanis Club, held its 47th Annual Roller Skating show earlier this month, featuring three nights of performances at the Oceanside Middle School Gym.

This year's theme was “Recycle, Reuse and Roller Skate,” and students were encouraged to go green for the show, both in costume and set design. Students spent their weekends training for the show, with older students volunteering their time to prepare their younger peers. They all took the stage for performances on March 4, 5 and 6.

Roller skaters performed to songs including “Let Your Love Grow,” “Put a Little Love in Your Heart” and “I Love Trash,” made famous by Sesame Street's Oscar the Grouch. They also wowed the crowd with stunts, jumping over barrels and gliding over ramps, much to the delight of their friends and family in the audience.
