Roadway repairs begin in Rockville Centre

The Village of Rockville Centre’s 2010 roadway project to repair heavily damaged roads in the village is already under way.

The Greystone area of the village is the main focus of this year’s projects, with water pipe replacement and road resurfacing scheduled for Gateway, Fenway, Kent Court, Dorset Lane and Leeds Court. Part of Winding Road is also on the list.

Additionally, Rodney Place, at the southern tip of the village, is scheduled for repair.

The roadway project will have work crews tearing up the village streets to assess and replace the pipes beneath them that feed water to homes on the streets. After the pipes are replaced, the roads will be resurfaced.

Under the contract for the project, the work is scheduled to be at least 95 percent complete by Sept. 1, so Rockville Centre residents in the area can expect to have their streets disturbed during parts of the summer.
