Robbie Rosen winds down ‘Idol’ run

Posted

Calhoun junior Robbie Rosen’s run on “American Idol” came to an end last night after he did not garner enough votes from the public to remain on the show.

Tuesday night, on live television, Rosen, 16, performed Sarah McLachlan’s “Angel,” but received mixed reviews from the judges. “You’ve been one of my favorites for a long time,” judge Randy Jackson told Rosen. “But I just don’t think this was a great performance.”

Two days later, Rosen, of Merrick, was informed early Thursday night that he had not been voted into the Top 10.

With the ability to “save” Rosen and handpick him to accompany the Top 10 into the final round, the judges gave Rosen one more opportunity to sing, and he chose to repeat his performance of Elton John’s “Hardest Seems to be the Hardest Word.” Although the judges said they enjoyed the performance, Rosen was not one of the final three contestants chosen.

According to Jackson, more than 100,000 contestants auditioned for the show this year. Rosen made it into the Top 16.
