People named in Crime Watch items as having been arrested and charged with violations or crimes are only suspected of committing those acts of which they are accused. They are all presumed to be innocent of those charges until and unless found guilty in a court of law.

Arrests

A 45-year-old man from Forest Place, West Hempstead, was arrested at Lakeview Avenue and Waterview Avenue on Feb. 1 and charged with assault, unlawful fleeing of a police officer, reckless endangerment, driving while intoxicated, failure to yield to a police vehicle, reckless driving, unlicensed operator and failure to maintain lane after an investigation that began at Lakeview Avenue and Hempstead Avenue.

A 23-year-old man from Buffalo Avenue, Freeport, was arrested on Feb. 4 and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated after a motor vehicle accident at Merrick Road and Lincoln Avenue.

A 32-year-old man from Muirfield Road, Rockville Centre, was arrested on Feb. 5 and charged with criminal possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of marijuana after an investigation on Thomas Road.

Larceny

On Feb. 4, Officers attempted to stop a 2005 BMW that had been stolen from a N. Village Avenue residence prior to the victim being aware of the loss. The recovered stolen car was involved in a motor vehicle accident on Morris Avenue and Walnut Street and was abandoned.

Harassment

A resident of Merrick Road reported on Feb. 2 that she was receiving harassing telephone calls from someone, causing annoyance and alarm.

A resident of Essex Lane reported on Feb. 5 that someone threw eggs at her home on multiple occasions, causing annoyance and alarm.
