Rockville Centre Fire Department participates in water rescue drill

On July 18, members of the Rockville Centre Fire Department participated in a water rescue drill, hosted by the East Rockaway Fire Department, in conjunction with the Atlantic Beach, Hewlett, Merrick, Oceanside, Port Washington and Wantagh fire departments.

The live, in-water scenario simulated a boat crash with multiple victims in the water in Hewlett Bay, off the shore of the Hewlett Point Beach in Bay Park. The event encompassed surface rescue scenarios, along with an underwater dive. The rescuers were faced with a variety of victims, conscious and unconscious, suffering minor to severe medical and trauma emergencies.
