Rockville Centre hit with more snow

Rockville Centre residents awoke to a familiar sight Friday morning — fresh snow.

As the fourth storm of the new winter season departed, leaving four to five inches of the powdery white stuff behind, village plows and sanders hit the road and winter-weary homeowners once again shoveled their sidewalks and driveways and dug out their cars.

Forecasters threatened a brief window of opportunity to de-snow and de-ice: an arctic front was poised to move through the area, and winds were predicted to pick up as temperatures plummet to the teens, bringing residents the coldest weekend of the season so far.

More bad news was on the horizon for those already tired of the winter weather — forecasters were warning of the possibility of another significant snowfall in the Tuesday-to-Wednesday timeframe.
