Join PTAs and support the budget

To the Editor:

The RVC PTA Council is happy to report that SEPTA, SSMS, SSHS and all five elementary school PTAs voted to support the proposed 2010-11 Rockville Centre school budget.

This budget provides quality education to students who go to the public schools and it also provides books, transportation services, and on-site special education services to private school students. It provides free building and field space to the basketball leagues, the soccer and lacrosse clubs, PAL, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. The school district provides venues for outside arts performances. It provides continuing education classes that are open to all adults in the community.

A “yes” vote for this budget is a vote to support our community. A “yes” vote for this budget helps to maintain the value of our homes and the integrity of our community.

We urge you to support our Rockville Centre community by voting “yes” this Tuesday at South Side High School.

Vote ‘yes’ for school budget

To the Editor:

Members of the Hewitt Elementary School PTA voted to support the 2010-2011 budget proposed by the Rockville Centre Board of Education. Based on the current economic climate and the increase in unfunded mandates from New York state, the board was faced with many difficult decisions as it attempted to minimize the burden on taxpayers while maintaining the high level of education our schools provide for our children. Given this daunting task, our unit's members found that the board has set forth a budget that is both educationally sound and fiscally responsible.
