Rockville Centre Letters to the Editor, Week of July 19

To the Editor:

I wanted to write about all the great people who are on the Rockville Centre Fireworks Committee.

Kathleen Gamberg and Michelle Sewell were great at coordinating the vendors and raising money from many businesses. Joan MacNaughton, without whom I couldn’t have worked the fireworks, took care of the T-shirts, raised money and helped produce the show with Wayne Lipton.

Kevin Ryan, Matt Geyer and Meghan Kearns put together all the literature we used for sponsorships and donations.

Jeanne Mulry, Sharon Sussman and Sherry Lynn Stromberg made sure we didn’t miss asking everyone possible. Last but not least, I want to thank my whole family, especially my amazing daughters, Meghan, Catie, Emily and Bridget, who, four years ago, when I told them we were going to raise $40,000 in three days, managed to do it and have worked the fireworks every year since. And thanks as well to the guy who really brings in the money, my husband, Chris. He raises money for every charity that asks.

Thank you all.

To the Editor:

The 2012 fireworks show was a wonderful event this year, not only because of the generous donations of our sponsors, but also because of the support of our vendors, Busco’s, Sweet Plantains, Artful Experience and Pretzel Stop. Members of the Fireworks Committee were very excited to have them this year. I would like to thank Michelle Sewell, who helped me contact and work with the vendors to make this possible. But more importantly, I would like to thank the vendors for their efforts to bring something new to this year’s show. We hope to bring more vendors in the upcoming years.

Upon reading “Becker beats Scaturro in primary” in the July 5-11 issue, I found that a lot was left unsaid.
