Rockville Centre resident and real estate CEO Jeff Feil recently donated $3 million to South Nassau Communities Hospital — the largest donation in the hospital’s 90-year history.

The donation was transferred from the Louis Feil Charitable Lead Annuity Trust. Jeff’s father, Louis, was a former President’s Club Member at South Nassau Communities Hospital. “It’s a legacy thing,” explained Elizabeth Nardone, the hospital’s Vice President of Development. “The trust is set up in the name of Jeff’s father. Jeff is trying to follow a tradition of supporting the hospital, which was set up by Louis.”

Nardone said that the gift will be used to enhance equipment and programs at South Nassau’s Cancer Center in Valley Stream. In light of the sizable donation, the hospital plans to rename the cancer facility to the Gertrude & Louis Feil Cancer Center sometime within the next several months.

“I’m thrilled by the contribution,” Nardone added. “It definitely shows the commitment of the Feil family to ensure that there’s good health care available to those who need it.”

Feil told the Herald that he was more than happy to make the donation. “Meeting with doctors and other people from the hospital made me want contribute,” Feil said. “I wanted to help the community so people wouldn’t have to go into Manhattan or travel far away to get treatment.”

A lifelong resident of Rockville Centre, Feil made a donation to the South Nassau Center of Cardiovascular Health in 2008. The following year, he donated to the cancer center. But his most recent contribution marks the largest donation he has made thus far.

The real estate executive owns, develops and manages more than 26 million square feet of retail, commercial and industrial properties. Based in Manhattan, it has been a powerful force in the real estate business for more than 50 years.
