On Dec. 18, members of Boy Scouts Troop 40 participated in the Wreaths Across America program.

The initiative sees scouts from all over the U.S. place Christmas wreaths at national cemeteries. Under the guidance of Scoutmasters Mike O’Hare and Ed Loud, scouts TJ Egan, Michael O’Hare, Jimmy Loud, Ryan Cook and Michael Riomao placed more than 500 wreaths at Pinelawn Cemetery.

The scouts also made a vist to the grave of Lt. Ronald Winchester, a Rockville Centre resident who was killed on Sept. 3, 2004, when an IED detonated near his vehicle in Al Anbar province, Iraq.
