Members of the RVC Express Girls U13 Division 1 Team had a week they’ll long remember. On July 15 they were filmed and interviewed by Andy Bettag from Japan’s Fuji Television Network. They spent the morning with their trainer, Tim Bradbury, at the Skelos Sports Complex demonstrating how American girls learn to play soccer. Bradbury and the girls were asked to share their views on the Women’s World Cup Final, and Express player Juliana Klaum challenged one of the reporters to a 1 v 1. The interview was aired in Japan the next day, to an audience of more than 5 million viewers.

Then, on July 19, the girls were invited to attend a taping of Good Morning America where they had the opportunity to meet the entire U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team. The girls spoke with the players, shook hands, took pictures and got autographs from each team member.

The highlight of the morning came when Abby Wambach made a special effort to speak to the girls. “You might not win every game you play, but it doesn’t matter,” she said. “What matters in life is how you deal with it and what you learn from it.” She told the girls to keep playing and loving soccer.
