Rockville Centre student wins Astoria Federal’s ‘Teach Children to Save’ contest

Daniel Culotta, a 12-year-old Rockville Centre resident was the sole local winner of Astoria Federal Saving’s recent contest, held in recognition of Financial Literacy Month. He submitted an essay that completed the statement, “If I save a lot today, in the future I could…” Daniel’s winning essay described how with his savings he plans to get a good education and eventually become a professional baseball player.

After selected as the winner from the Rockville Centre branch, Daniel, pictured with Branch Manager Ingrid Davidson, stopped by to receive his award that included a $50 U.S. Savings Bond, a Teach Children to Save certificate, and an Education First medal.
