Rockville Centre teachers leaving on a high note

South Side music teacher Andrea Patterson, at right with a middle school concert soloist, is one of 19 teachers who have announced plans to retire at the end of the 2009-10 school year. The departing elementary school staff includes Judith E. Birnbaum and Paula L. Genovesi from Wilson, Alice M. Chafetz from Hewitt, Mark S. Welicky from Watson, Debra Leopold at South Side Middle School and the elementary buildings and Anne E. Stuyvesant who teaches in all the elementary schools.

Elizabeth E. Lindner, an ESL teacher is also departing, as is Alejandra Kaplan, a foreign language instructor. in the Language Arts department, Ronnie A. Dien, Susan Kromol, Kathleen M. Sicinski, and Russelll K. Reid are saying their goodbyes. The physical education department is losing Thomas Cavaliere, Linda Long and John S. McShane; while the science department will see Cedric Manchand depart. Rosemarie Stein, Special Education; Martha Neway, speech/hearing and Patterson round out the list of the 19 retirees.
