More than a dozen members of the RVC Youth Council volunteered at the Vineyard Church food pantry on Nov. 20. They helped bag fresh produce and turkeys, as well as canned and boxed goods for the more than 60 community residents who enjoyed a Thanksgiving meal at the church that day.

This was the busiest day of the year for the Vineyard and Youth Council volunteers will help them again on Dec. 18, their second busiest day, to prepare for the free Christmas meal the church will offer to needy community residents.

At the grand opening of the TD Bank on Merrick Avenue — also on Nov. 20, Ryan Koutsogiannis, vice president and branch manager, presented the Youth Council with a check for $500, that it will use to subsidize social events for local youth and to cover expenses in providing social action and community awareness programs on alcohol and substance abuse.

The next meeting of the RVC Youth Council is set for next Tuesday — Dec. 14 — at 7:30 p.m. at the Rec Center. The next midnight bowling for teens in grades 9-12 and college freshmen, is set for Dec. 29 at 9:30 p.m. at RVC Lanes on Maple Avenue.
