Rockville Centre Mayor Francis X. Murray was honored during the St. Agnes Cathedral Parish Celebration on Oct. 22 for his life-long contributions to the church.

Murray was recognized during the 54th year of the event, which took place at the Monsignor James P. Kelly Parish Center. The mayor is a lifelong Rockville Centre resident and parishioner of St. Agnes.

“I can’t even explain what an honor it is for me to be recognized by our Parish, Saint Agnes Cathedral,” said Mayor Murray. “I’ve been blessed to be a parishioner here since I was born and I have so many wonderful memories.”

St. Agnes Reverend Monsignor William Koenig said the parish has always appreciated the mayor’s generosity and support.

“His generosity in giving his time and talent and exemplified most recently by his involvement as a member of the Cathedral Renovation Committee,” said Koenig. “Through his leadership, our Village has thrived and people far beyond the Parish of St. Agnes have benefitted from Mayor Murray’s faithful public service.”

This year’s St. Agnes celebration was called “Fiesta” and featured a buffet dinner, silent auction and a mariachi band.
