Santa Claus comes to town

The Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmores kicked off the holiday season last week with a visit by Jolly Old St. Nick.
The day after Thanksgiving, the organization welcomed Kris Kringle for the annual Santa Run around Bellmore. The Bellmore Fire Department and the Bellmore Movies co-sponsored the event; members of the North Bellmore Fire Department also participated.
On Friday, Nov. 28, Santa boarded a fire truck to tour the Bellmores, stopping at:
- CVS Shopping Plaza, North Jerusalem Road, between Bellmore and East Meadow avenues.
- Stop & Shop, Jerusalem Avenue and Newbridge Road.
- Ace Shopping Center, Merrick Road and Bedford Avenue.
- Bellmore Firehouse, Pettit Avenue in Bellmore Village.
When Santa arrived at his final location, he went next door to the Bellmore Movies. Children and their parents packed the theater, eagerly waiting to meet and take pictures with the big guy. Then they enjoyed a free family film.
