Officials from the National Weather Service and the Town of Hempstead are already prepping area residents for another snowy evening. The Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning from 10 a.m. on Wednesday through 6 a.m. Thursday, and town authorities are suggesting residents limit their use of the roads to emergencies. They also suggest keeping an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle.

Heavy snow and sleet is expected for Long Island, New York City and portions of New Jersey this afternoon and through the night. Accumulations of four to eight inches are expected, with wind gusts up to 30 MPH.
