Seaford Historical Society hosting 10th Harvest Fair

Posted

The Seaford Historical Society is inviting residents and visitors to embrace the season at its 10th annual Harvest Fair.

The festival will be held between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25 at the Seaford Historical Museum, at 3890 Waverly Ave. All are welcome to the event, which will feature more than 50 vendors, food, a pumpkin patch, face painting and representatives from various community organizations, including Scout troops.

The Seaford Historical Society is a registered nonprofit organization that maintains and operates the museum, which originally served as a school when it was built in 1893. Funds raised at the Harvest Fair will benefit the maintenance of the facility, which houses memorabilia and artifacts that reflect Seaford’s long history as a bay and farming town.

The fair has a seasonal feel, members of the organization noted, as fall foods and plants like pumpkins, mums, cornstalks and chowder will be for sale. Attendees may also enter a raffle; the grand prize is a $400 gift certificate to Best Buy.

The Seaford High School Jazz Band, Downstage Dance, Tiana DiConstanzo and the Long Island Cabaret Theatre will all perform on the Hempstead Town ShowMobile, entertaining festivalgoers while they peruse vendor stalls and buy Seaford merchandise — including shirts, hats, mugs and maps of the community — from the Historical Society. There will also be a lot of activities for children, including games, pumpkin-decorating and face-painting stations.

The event will be held rain or shine. For more information about the fair, visit www.seafordhistoricalsociety.org/events
