Shooting locks down Green Acres Mall

The Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream was put on lockdown after a shooting Monday afternoon.  A man was shot in the leg inside a Famous Footwear store.  Nassau county police who responded at 4:47 p.m., said an altercation broke out between the victim and the gunman that led to the shooting.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital. No other injuries were reported. The search for the gunman is under way, the police said. 

UPDATE: Commissioner Patrick J. Ryder of the Nassau County Police Department gave a statement on the incident, "There are two subjects at this time that we believe, they both left with dark color clothing, one suspect was holding the weapon that we believe was used involved in the shooting...we are interviewing witnesses.
