Showing love for Long Island with Lego fun at Pagan-Fletcher Restoration

Posted

The Valley Stream Historical Society held a Lego competition for all ages at the Pagan-Fletcher Restoration on July 16. Participants were asked to bring their Lego creations to the competition in keeping with the theme of “I Love Long Island.”

These talented builders were told to bring their best, and they did just that. The competition was judged by Historical Society Trustee Karen Selah, who said was overwhelmed with how amazing everyone’s submissions were. These future architects showed off their amazing Lego building skills for a chance to win the first-place prize. After the judge carefully inspected each submission, she declared the winners.

When it came time to pick a first-place winner, she was debating between two submissions that were outstanding compared to the rest, so she just had to award them both as first-place winners. Each winner was given the grand prize of two tickets to visit Legoland, the ultimate dream prize for a Lego builder. The second-place winner was given tickets to ride Nunley’s Carousel in Uniondale for their awesome creation.

For this competition, no one was left empty-handed; the runners-up were given gift cards for their amazing efforts. During the competition, the Historical Society also auctioned off tickets to a Brooklyn Cyclones game. The Historical Society  has always strived to bring the community together and this event was a great way to gather families of Valley Stream for a night of a little competitive fun, noted President Bill Florio.
