One hundred and seventy five wide-eyed campers took part in the magic show at the Rockville Centre Recreation Center on July 11.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Parks and Recreation Ginger Creegan, magician John Turdo returned for his third summer performance, again awing children with engaging magic tricks that often involved animals.

“His big thing is he involves the kids in his show,” she said. “It’s very popular.”

Attendees enjoyed a one-hour show from Turdo and were treated to a pizza lunch. The show was open to children in all age groups registered in the Recreation Center’s Summer Program. Kids from the Hewitt and Wilson summer playground sites were also bused over to the Recreation Center to enjoy in the spectacle.

Upcoming events for campers include a dodgeball tournament on July 25, the end-of-season picnic on Aug. 9 and weekly beat-the-heat sprinkler Fridays.
