Snow hits Rockville Centre again

This time, the storm creates power outages in the village

Weary public works crews were back at it again on Jan. 27, once again clearing village roads of heavy, wet snow with a coating of ice brought by a strong storm that included rare lightning and thunder.

Villagers awoke to yet another delivery of the white stuff this morning. This latest snowfall —— the seventh this season —— brought more than a foot of snow to Rockville Centre and surrounding areas.

Originally planning a delayed opening, the Rockville Centre school district instead closed for the day and all activities were canceled. St. Agnes Cathedral School also closed on Thursday. Village offices were open.

Municipal workers also had to deal with both a water main break on Clinton Avenue and a power outage in the Knollwood Road area during the height of the storm Wednesday night.
