Soaking up the end of summer

Elmont residents headed down to Averill Boulevard Park and Pool Complex to enjoy the final days of summer before heading back to school and work. The pool is one of 22 pools in the Town of Hempstead’s park system.

With temperatures rising throughout the summer, Elmont parents and children know Averill pool is the best place to keep cool.

Aside from offering a place to soak up some rays, the pool also has a swim team and offers swimming lessons to area children. The squad competes against other local swim teams and practices daily. For swimmers looking to improve their water skills, lessons are also available for all levels. The pool is monitored by certified lifeguards from the Town of Hempstead, many of whom are local residents.

The pool is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and closes for the season after Labor Day.
