South Side’s boys’ and girls’ track and field teams earned 14 and 11 points, respectively, at the Nassau Class AA championships last month after enjoying solid regular seasons in Conference 3A.

Seniors James Hallwood and Kevin Cook, junior Nick Suss and sophomore Evan Chernack comprised a 4 x 100 relay that placed third in the county with a time of 45.7 seconds. South Side also placed fifth in the 4 x 800 (8:44.2) with senior Randy Williams, juniors Sean Culkin and James Ryan, and freshman Anthony Sourial.

The Lady Cyclones were led by senior Liz Textor, who won the Class AA championship in the High Jump (5-6½), as well as a 4 x 800 relay comprised of junior Cathryn Ryan, sophomores Katie Lomuto and Alannah O’Rourke, and freshman Kathleen Byrne. Ryan had a strong division meet, finishing first in the 800 and runner up in the 1,500.
