The Island Park Library kicked off its “Storyteller by the Fireplace” series in October with guest Gerald Fiest sharing tales of “Spooks and Ghosts.” Over 70 people turned out to hear the spooky tales by the cozy fire. The library will feature a live storyteller each month through April. The stories will be appropriate for all ages. October featured Fiest, an internationally acclaimed storyteller. The stories were fit for a scary Halloween, but not too scary. “Live storytellers have a special kind of magic,” commented Library Director Jessica Koenig. “There is something timeless about listening to stories as people have been doing for centuries. It enables children to use their imagination in a different way. We promise the audience will be riveted!” The programs take place by the library’s beautiful fireplace on the first floor.

The next storyteller program, “American Tales” with Lou Del Bianco, will take place Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 7:00 pm.
