Athena Cheung, a junior at Sacred Heart Academy and Rockville Centre resident, recently won top honors in the prestigious Al Kalfus math competition at Hofstra University. More than 1,400 Long Island students competed by investigating mathematic projects and developing their own ideas which were presented orally before judges, peers, and parents. Cheung won a Gold Medal for her work on the Applied Number Theory.
