Organizers of the St. Agnes Cathedral Elementary School’s annual gala ball, held last Saturday night at the Garden City Hotel, said the event was a true success. It was a “fantastic year for sponsorships and journal ads,” said a spokeswoman. Over 300 people attended, including Bishop William Murphy and Msgr. William Koenig, and school co-presidents Sr. Kathleen Carlin and Helen Newman were also on hand. This year’s honorees were Cara DeRostaing Cahill of Rockville Centre who received the St. Catherine of Siena Award for commitment to Catholic education and Salvatore LaMonica of Oceanside who received the St. Thomas Aquinas Award for ongoing support of Catholic education. Also honored with the Elizabeth Ann Seton Award was educator Frances Fiorello for her dedicated service to the school’s students. Organizers said it was a lovely evening with dinner, drinks and dancing.
