Survey for Lynbrook's Greis Park master plan now open

Lynbrook village officials are now conducting a needs analysis and seeking community input on what improvements residents would like to see at Greis Park.

“We want to hear from residents, business owners, special interest groups, and any other interested parties,” said Trustee Robert Boccio, who serves as parks liaison, in a release. “The master planning process started with a series of public forums to gather opinions from stakeholders and focus groups.”

After two months of vetting design companies, Lynbrook village officials unanimously voted on Sept. 17 to select the Colorado-based GreenPlay LLC to take charge of the nine-month effort to create a master plan to revamp Greis Park.

There are several phases to the creation of the plan, which includes various steps to gather feedback from residents. The next outreach phase enables residents to complete an online survey, which is now available at www.greispark.org/open

The Master Plan will look at the existing park, recreational facilities, programs, and services, in order to determine the current and future level of services for the community based on public input. The plan will prioritize the needs and desires for upgrading and improving Greis Park including its amenities, programs, and services.

The citizens’ input will be used to determine the priorities for the park’s recreational facilities and activities and how to best support the needs of the community. Village officials will also seek funding sources and identify potential partnerships based on the feedback, Boccio said.

GreenPlay is a nationally recognized parks and recreation management consulting firm. Questions about the plan or survey can be addressed to Park Supervisor Patrick McDermott, by calling (516) 599-8000, or emailing pmcdermott@lynbrookvillage.com.
