Police arrested the man they say robbed a Valley Stream bank on Monday morning. The robbery occurred at the Chase Bank near the Green Acres Mall shortly before 10:15 a.m. on April 4.

According to police, 39-year-old James Ippolito, of 247th Street in Rosedale, entered the bank and handed a note to the teller demanding cash. They also say that Ippolito displayed a handgun that was underneath his jacket. The teller handed him cash and he fled through the mall parking lot, police say.

Ippolito was arrested a short time later by a Nassau County police officer. Police say that the cash and a pellet gun were recovered on the suspect.

There were 17 employees and three customers present at the time of the robbery. No injuries were reported.

Ippolito was charged with second-degree robbery and will be arraigned on Tuesday in First District Court.
