SUV crashes into Lynbrook Restaurant

Posted

On Friday at approximately 9 a.m., a man drove his white Honda CR-V into Gallery Four Italian Restaurant in Lynbrook, causing extensive damage to the establishment.

According to a witness, who was standing in front of Not Just Bagels located two stores away, the man driving the CR-V was attempting to make a left off of Eldert Street, heading southbound onto Broadway. While making the turn, the driver struck a gold Jeep Grand Cherokee that was also headed southbound on Broadway.

The Jeep spun around after the collision, the witness said, as if the vehicle were originally headed northbound and the CR-V accelerated into the storefront of Gallery IV. The driver of the CR-V reversed immediately after driving into the building, taking a piece of the building with it.

While there was damage to the restaurant, nobody was hurt during the accident, according to the Lynbrook Fire Department. The department received a signal 13, meaning there was no extraction necessary and the department was not needed at the time of the accident.

The owners, Mike and Thomas Verderosa, cleaned the restaurant of the debris, boarded up the hole left by the vehicle and remained open for business, both storefront and takeout for the rest of the afternoon.
