Lynbrook High School class studies stadium design — hands on

Students in Susan Ehrlich’s Advertising and Marketing class at Lynbrook High School took a stadium tour field trip recently as part of the Stadium Design Unit of her sports marketing class.

The students started the day with a tour of Yankee Stadium. They visited Monument Park, the Yankee Museum and the Yankee Clubhouse, where visited the players’ lockers.

Next, they enjoyed brunch at the Hard Rock Cafe at Yankee Stadium. Students got to see music memorabilia from events and concerts held at the stadium. The day continued with a tour of Citi Field. Students saw all of the restaurants inside the stadium, sat in a corporate luxury box and the press box. They also toured the Mets Clubhouse, sat in the team’s dugout — they even got to pose as the Mets manager in the “hot seat” of the press conference room.

Each tour ended in the stadium store where students were able to purchase team souvenirs.

“It was a great day where students experienced real world connections to various topics studied in class,” said Ehrlich. “Tour guides not only discussed the history of the teams, but showed students real promotions, corporate sponsorships, pricing, broadcasting, sports journalism, and merchandising. It is a lesson that students will remember for a lifetime.”
