Teens robbed of jewelry in Valley Stream's west end

Two teenagers were robbed in Valley Stream’s west end last Friday night. According to Nassau County Police, two females teens, ages 14 and 16, were walking on West Merrick Road near Clear Stream Avenue at 8:30 p.m. when they were approached by a unknown man.
The robber snatched a gold necklace from the neck of the 14-year-old girl, then demanded a chain from the 16-year-old. As that girl tried to remove her chain, the robber ripped it from her neck and ran off. He fled south on Clear Stream Avenue.
The two girls were not hurt. The suspect is described as a black male, 20 years old with short black hair and a beard, wearing a green sweater and blue jeans.
