A number of Rockville Centre’s spiritual leaders who regularly perform on-site services for the residents of the Maple Pointe Assisted Living community were honored in a moving tribute on Jan. 4.

Organized by Maple Pointe's Director of Recreation, Geneva Quail, the honorees included the late Rabbi Fred Ackerman, (whose wife Sheila accepted the honor); Barbara Prins and Barbara Liebman, representing the Caring Community of Central Synagogue of Nassau County; The Rev. Jeffrey P. Laustsen of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church; Richard V. Grey and Hugh Boyle, Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Communion and Father John McCarthy of St. Agnes Cathedral.

"The residents of Maple Pointe appreciate their spiritual guidance and support, " said case manager Steve Friedman of the honorees. "We came together here of different faiths but with one purpose — to recognize the service of these leaders and we thank them for their good works, their songs, their inspiring words and their caring hearts."
